Worcester, MA
Teams: Colts (1888), Worcester (1889-91), Chiefs (1933), Rosebuds (1934) | AKA: League Park |
Memorable Moments:
This park had a very short backstop and fence and was in a densely populated area. As a result, balls flew out of the park everywhere and bombarded the neighbors houses. In 1934, the neighbor's got a court injunction to prevent the home team, not from playing baseball, but from hitting balls out of the park. The city then wouldn't allow the team to heighten the fences, so they moved on.
Much of this information was gathered from the Worcester Telegram, June 14, 1988.
