Team: Baltimore Monumentals | AKA: Union Association Park |
On July 4, 1888, with a sellout crowd and a thousand other fans perched on fence tops, roofs, phone poles, and anything else they could find, a shed beyond outfield fence collapsed and sent fans falling onto the field. St. Louis Unions outfielder, Lew Dickerson, caught a fan on the fly. On August 25, 1888, the Monumentals moved to the larger Madison Avenue Grounds, but returned back here after one game because the surface of the other park was too bumpy.
