In 1886, the Maple Avenue Athletic Association was formed on lands owned by the Robinson Family. The laid out a half-mile horse track with a baseball diamond and football field in the center. In 1889, the "Interstate Fair Association" was formed and they added an elaborate grandstand, clubhouse, barns, and a display building. Around the turn of the century, the property passed into the hands of Elmira Water, Light and Railroad Co. they erected the first electric street cars to the field from Lake and Markets Streets. The first night football game was played here in 1902. This park was used for various athletic events, until 1914, when Dunn Field was built to house professional baseball. Dunn Field still stands on this site today.
