Manager Billy Arnold leased a plot of land on the western side of New Haven. The park was constructed with an eight foot high fence around the ballpark. Home plate was near Howard Ave railroad bridge. Ownership intended to construct 1200 bleacher seats along Howard Avenue and 600 box seats behind home plate. A press box was to be built complete with a telegraph machine. The park was located near a railroad stop and the thought was to change the train schedule slightly to accomodate fans as far away as Bridgeport. A quarter mile track around the park was also supposed to be built. Construction took a month (delayed from the original estimate of a day). It is not certain if the ballpark was built to these specs.
