When Burke Brook was dammed, it created Geauga Lake, and on these shores amusement parks would be built. This was the first amusement park in the Cleveland area. It was named after the parks developer and first operator, George William Beyerle. The park had, in addition to a ballpark, a skating rink, dance hall, zoo, and boating. The park was torn down in the 1930s and used as a clay quarry. It latter reverted back to form and was home of Six Flags.
